METFORMIN MAY PREVENT LONG COVID

An oral anti diabetic drug, metformin may play a role in the prevention of long haul COVID-19 when taken in the early stages of COVID-19 infection.

Metformin lead to a drop in 42% in long COVID among individuals with mild to moderate infection by COVID-19

There is seldom knowledge regarding the management of chronic COVID-19, thus the use of metformin could help prevent significant disruptions and disability due to long COVID.

Between February 2022 and January 2021, Carolyn Bramante, MD, an assistant professor of internal medicine and paedriatics at University of Minnesota tested three oral medications: metformin, ivermectin and fluvoxamine in clinical trials called COVID OUT.

The individuals under study were blinded to randomized treatments and similarly decentarized with no persons in contact with the participants. The paper has however not been published, but it can offer a breakthrough if approved.
